COI = Coefficient of Inbreeding (relatedness of dogs on pedigree) given in percentage %
Range = 0.0 to 100%
Number of generations recommended for proper calculation = Every generation in the breed since its inception, but at least 10 generations
Average number of generations behind a typical Mudi today is about 30

- 6.25% is equivalent to first cousins mating or half uncle/half aunt to niece/nephew or great-grandparents to great-grandchildren
- 12.5% is equivalent to a half brother to half sister mating or grandparent to grandchild mating or uncle/aunt to niece/nephew
- 25% is equivalent to a parent-child mating or a full brother to full sister mating

RECOMMENDED COI LEVELS FOR THE MUDI:
(based on scientific research, geneticist recommendations, etc.)

-Ideal level is 0.00 to 6.25%
-Acceptable level is 6.25 to 10.0%
-Allowable level is 10.0 to 12.5%
-It is inadvisable to go over 12.5%
-Excessive is 12.5-15%
-Extreme is over 15%
-Over 20% is inconsiderable

MY DATABASE DETAILS:

- Started in summer 2004, with a professional software program that provides the most accurate COI percentages, based on Wright's Coefficient of Inbreeding

- Currently there are more than 10,200 Mudis entered in my database from all parts of the world where Mudis are living (as of July 2021)

- More COI and Mudi breed statistics will be provided in a future Mudi Directions post
